Dreams and dream journals.
Well we are still in the month of March so if I get this newsletter out in the next two days I am not late, lol.
What a busy month it has been so far, some of the time has been productive some not so productive. As long as enjoyment is to be had and smiles are on faces, it becomes time well spent.
This month I thought we would talk about dreams, the visions that come to us during our sleeping hours. Some dreams are simply our mind unwinding after the day, a type of de-stressing where the mind can unravel and sort out the day’s events and then leave them behind for a fresh start to the new day.
Other dreams however can be haunting and stay with us after we wake; some even cause us distress and anxiety by their content or leave us feeling tired upon waking, we feel the exhaustion all day when that happens.
We need to understand our dreams and which dreams hold some sort of meaning to understand them and to work with them in a way that is productive to us. Some people rarely recall their dreams and feel that they do not dream at all. In some cases medications can create elaborate dream states or subdue the dream process completely.
We are going to try to understand our dreams and perhaps even work through them to see if our dreams are prophetic in some way; this can at times be a long and slow process, yet an interesting one.
I have found that as individuals our dreams do not always fit into the generic meanings in a book, although the dream interpretations are a very good starting point and can help us to pin point our dream meaning with ease.
A personal dream journal used in conjunction with a good dream interpretation book will certain help us over time understand what our dreams are telling us and which dreams hold these elusive secrets.
Your personal dream journal is a boring task, lol it will take a long time to see results but it is well worth the small amount of time and effort that it takes to create one.
Firstly get an exercise book and pen, keep them near to your bed.
Upon waking after having a dream, think about it for a moment and ask yourself if it was a dream of meaning or simply a dream.
If you feel it was a dream of meaning, write down the date and a quick rundown of the dream underlining keywords or features that stand out, this does not need to be essay length, just enough information to jog your memory of the dream at a later date.
Leave a gap between entries so that notes can be added at a later date either relating to the dream or what you think the interpretation may be.
Should you encounter any events in your life or that of someone close to you, once again write the notes under the corresponding dream in your journal, jot down the date and the events you think may relate to the dream.
The use of dates will help to give you a timeline of how long between the dream and the event in your waking life. So you may over time begin to see a pattern of say 2 to 3 weeks or even 4 months.
The notes will allow you to see emerging patterns or sequences of events that show the hidden meanings of your dreams. Remember not to feel bad if you think your dream means one thing and later you see it to be something else, this is all a part of the learning process and some dreams may have more than one meaning.
If we are plagued with nightmares it may be worth your while for the sake of a solid night’s sleep to try to alter your dream path, this is a simple yet effective method to help ease nightmares or to give them a more neutral or pleasant feel. Everyone is different therefore the results of this method are different for everyone.
As you lie in bed awaiting sleep, allow the negative thoughts and energy from the day slip away, do not think of the aggressions or upsets, but instead let your mind wander to a place which is just for you, a place where you feel safe, secure, comfortable and loved. For some it may be swimming in a peaceful and secluded pond, for others walking in a dense forest, others may find the rhythmic waves on a beach at dusk awe inspiring.
When you have found your place, think of it as you drift off to sleep, see this place so intently that you feel the ground beneath your feet and smell the sweet scent of the flowers, think of it as if you are really there, maintain this energy as you fall into slumber. Over time this will hopefully bring you calm and restful sleep.
I also have some of the number meanings of dreams as well, but there is far too much information to fit into the news letter, if anyone would like a copy message me and I will send it out to you. An example of dream numbers follows.
Numbers in dreams may sometimes not appear directly. Sometimes, numbers can be presented in the number of characters, number of objects, or an action that is repeated a certain number of times. Usually, you want to stick with the basic numbers (1 through 9) when trying to decipher the meaning of multiple digit numbers. For example, the number "1965" could mean the year 1965. But you can also add up the digits until you get one number. Thus 1965 --> 1+9+6+5 = 21 --> 2+1 = 3. However, some additional "master" or "karmic" numbers may carry their own significance.
Also worth noting is that odd numbers are considered more aggressive then even numbers, while even numbers are considered to be more tranquil.
Zero symbolizes nothingness and emptiness. You are experiencing a void in your life. The symbol may also share the same significance as a circle and thus denotes infinity, eternity, completeness, absolute freedom and holiness. Alternatively, the dream forewarns that you are going around in circles and headed nowhere. Perhaps your actions have been counterproductive. It also represents timelessness and the super-conscious.
